Krajcovicova, Walters-West, and Immler all picked up singles wins against the Eagles
GREELEY, Colo. – In their second match of the weekend, UNC dropped their match against the Eastern Washington Eagles, 4-3.
"We've definitely learned from our matches so far this season, because we all showed up to compete and fight today," head coach Brenda Gallegos said. "I couldn't be more proud of these girls and their hard work today. It was a heartbreaker because the team really did give every ounce of heart and fight and it just didn't fall our way. We won't let this loss get in the way of us being successful in future conference matches."
The Bears lost the doubles point to start the day, falling narrowly in the No. 1 match via tiebreaker, and 6-4 in the No. 2 match.
Despite giving up the doubles points, the Bears fought back, winning three of the six singles matches. Lea Krajcovicova won her No. 1 match over Janaya Smith 7-5, 6-4, and Hilary-Walters West earned a win in the No. 3 slot 6-2, 6-1. Remi Immler earned the third win of the day for UNC in the No. 6 match, defeating Faye Worrall in a tough three set match, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Northern Colorado is on the road next weekend, heading to Portland, Oregon to play Seattle (11a.m. Feb. 26) and Portland State (1p.m. Feb. 27).
