Women's Tennis Wins Four Matches on Weekend

UNC goes 0-2 on the weekend, falling to Seattle and Portland State
PORTLAND - The UNC Women's Tennis team competed against Seattle and Portland State this weekend, falling in both matches, 5-1 and 5-2, respectively. The Bears are now 3-6 overall on the season and 0-2 in Big Sky play.
The Bears played Seattle on Friday afternoon, winning one doubles match and one singles match.
Beth Coton and Remi Immler started the day, defeating Michelle Lui and Kelli Woodman, 6-2.
Anna Battersby won the No. 5 match 6-2, 6-2, and Hilary Walters-West and Lily-Ana Kreutzer each won one set in their matches. Walters-West won the first set of the No. 3 match, 6-3, before falling in the next two to lose overall. Kreutzer won the second set of the No. 6 match, 6-4, but fell in the first and third to give Seattle the point.
Against Portland State on Saturday, the Bears won two singles matches, and played close in two doubles matches.
To start, UNC fell in both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, with Marissa Baca and Battersby fighting hard, losing in a tiebreaker 7-5. In the No. 1 match, Coton and Immler were tied up 6-6 against their PSU opponents before the match was ended early.
Lea Krajcovicova won the No. 1 singles match fairly handedly, 6-3, 6-0, and Coton won in the No. 2 match 6-3, 6-3. Remi Immler also picked up a first-set win in her match (No. 6 - 6-2) but would drop the remaining two for the loss.
The Bears are back in action next Saturday in Greeley, facing the Weber State Wildcats in a 1:00 p.m. Big Sky matchup.
