The Bears picked up one singles match win over the Buffalo
GREELEY, Colo. - The Northern Colorado Women's Tennis team opened up a three-match weekend on Friday afternoon, falling to the Colorado Buffalo 6-1.
"The team really came out motivated to fight hard and compete hard," head coach Brenda Gallegos said. "It was to the point where they were walking off the court knowing they had left it all out there. We were very competitive from top to bottom, but we did have a bit of a slow start in a few of our doubles matches."
The Bears fell in all three doubles matches, with nationally-ranked (#40) doubles team of Beth Coton and Remi Immler losing 6-4 in the a hard-fought No. 1 doubles match.
Freshman Anna Battersby earned the lone Bear win of the day, picking up a 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 win over Wojcek of CU.
Hilary Walters-West and Remi Immler managed to win one set in each of their singles matches, but were unable to pull out a second for the wins overall.
"We'll get another opportunity tomorrow to continue tweaking some things and continue the learning process with the girls. I'm really proud of the team for competing at such a high level against a really good Colorado team - this is definitely one of the best matches we've had against them in a while."
