UNC Bears Tennis faces solid competition at Air Force Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Northern Colorado women's tennis team went down to the Air Force Academy this past weekend, and picked up some valuable experience and growth in the Air Force Invite.

Best Performance
Senior Courtney Schulte played well in the No. 6 singles draw, earning the consolation bracket title. After dropping her first match to Ammaarah Tim of Texas State, she rebounded to win a pair of three set matches. First she defeated Ansley Boarman of Abilene Christian 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 and followed it up with a win over Sandra Keta of Colorado State 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 to win the consolation side.

Other Strong Performances
- Schulte added a third win to her total on the weekend when her and partner Beth Coton won the Day Three Flight B No. 1 doubles match over Pippa Carr and Eva Dench in a 6-0 shutout.
- Cotton also earned a win the Singles No.1 draw over Miranda Talbert of Wyoming 6-4, 6-2.
- A pair of other Bears picked up wins in singles play as well in Anna Battersby and Ella Mora. Battersby won her opening match of the No. 2 Singles draw over Imongen Clews of Wyoming. Meanwhile Mora's victory came over Celine Voss of Colorado State.

What's Next?
The Bears will be off this weekend as they prepare for the ITA Mountain Regionals at the University of New Mexico October 11-15.
