Northern Colorado defeated CSU-Pueblo on Saturday 7-0
GREELEY, Colo. – The UNC women's tennis team opened up their 2016 season on Saturday with a win, defeating Colorado State-Pueblo, 7-0.
The Bears started the day off clinching the doubles point after winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Beth Coton and Remi Immler shut out their opponents in the No. 1 match, 6-0, while Hilary Walters-West and Courtney Schulte won match No. 2 shortly thereafter, 6-1.
Northern Colorado also swept the singles matches, with Coton and Walters-West taking No. 1 and No. 2 with identical scores of 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Anna Battersby followed suit in match No. 3, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Lily-Ana Kreutzer and Courtney Schulte also picked up wins in the fourth and fifth matches, winning 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-0, respectively. The seventh team point for the Bears came in the sixth singles match, where Marissa Baca earned a win by default.
Northern Colorado is right back on the courts tomorrow in Greeley, facing Metro State with a scheduled start time of 11:00 a.m.
