UNC plays Colorado State at home Sept. 13, then travels to Cheyenne, Wyo. to play the Cowgirls on Sept.15
GREELEY, Colo. - UNC Soccer will have had an entire week of preparation for the upcoming games since their last-weekend split, and will close out their portion of the season-long Colorado Cup come Sunday afternoon. The Bears will face the Colorado State Rams at home this Sunday, Sept. 13th, at 1:00PM, and then travel to Cheyenne, Wyoming in a matchup against the Cowgirls on Tuesday at 7:00PM (Sept. 15th).
Sunday's 1:00PM game will be the third time the Bears and Rams have met in as many years. Northern Colorado looks to defeat the Rams for the first time in the series, which currently sits at 0-1-1, after a 2-1 loss at CSU last season and a 2-2 tie in Greeley in 2013.
Sunday's game will also serve as the annual Bark in the Park game, where all dogs are welcome to attend the game with their owners. Denkai Sanctuary will also be present with information about their rescue, and will be taking donations at the game. For more information about Denkai, you can also visit their website at denkaisanctuary.org.
The Bears squad has played the Wyoming Cowgirls every season since 2007, and an additional five times prior to that, all while Tim Barrera has been the head coach at UNC. The all-time series between the two school is 3-8-1, after a 0-0 tie in Greeley in 2014, a 1-0 win at Wyoming in 2013, and a 2-0 loss in Greeley in 2012.
Next week, the team travels to Omaha, Nebraska for a Friday night (Sept. 18, 6:00PM MT) game against Creighton, followed by a Sunday morning (Sept. 20, 11:00AM MT) game against Nebraska-Omaha. The Bears will then return home to kick off their conference game schedule the following weekend against the Montana Grizzlies.
