UNC men's basketball adds another post presence in junior college transfer Jamal Evans.
GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado men's basketball team has added another post presence to their 2015-16 roster in junior college transfer, Jamal Evans.
Evans comes to UNC from Midland College in Texas where he played just one season after spending his freshman year at Polk State.
He started 26 games for the Chaparrals in 2014-15 averaging 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Evans recorded 11 games last season where he hauled in at least eight rebounds or more, helping Midland to a 17-13 overall record.
"We are really excited to add Jamal to our program," said head coach B.J. Hill. "He should be able to fill some areas of need that we have that were created with the graduation of Tim [Huskisson] and Dominique [Lee]. Coach Murphy did a great job of building his relationship with Jamal throughout the course of the season to where he felt UNC was the best fit for him on and off the court."
Jamal Evans, 6-7, 205-lbs. St. Petersburg, Fla.
Evans put up similar numbers his freshman year at Polk State, averaging 10.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg in 27 games helping guide the team to the NJCAA Regional Championship game.
Originally a St. Petersburg, Florida native, he played his high school ball at Riverview. Evans was an all-conference selection his season year, averaging 22.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game and breaking the Shark's season scoring record in the process.
