UNC Women's Tennis Overtakes Opponents at CSU Invitational

Bears go 16-8 against Wyoming, Colorado State

GREELEY - Women's Tennis competed up in Fort Collins this weekend in matches against Wyoming and Colorado State. The Bears had one doubles team go undefeated and four girls go undefeated in singles-play.

Overall, the team went 16-8, with six wins out of 11 doubles matches and 10 wins out of 13 singles matches.

Of the doubles teams, Beth Coton and Remi Immler were the only ones to go undefeated (3-0) on the weekend, defeating CSU teams Emily Kolbow/Celine Voss (6-1) and Laia Hernandez Soler/Maddie Buxton (6-1) and Wyoming team Miranda Talbert/Elisa Koonik (6-3).

In singles play, junior Courtney Schulte went 1-0 after beating out CSU opponent Maddie Buxton in three sets. Junior Beth Coton went 2-0 on the weekend, defeating her Wyoming opponent in three sets. Coton was awarded the win for her second match after her CSU opponent retired.

Senior Hilary Walters-West went 1-0 as well, beating out Emily Kolbow of CSU after splitting the first two sets and rallying back to win the third to take the win. Freshman Remi Immler was the fourth undefeated Bear in singles-play, beating two CSU opponents.

The Bears have this coming weekend off, but will prepare for the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament, set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, to close out their fall season [Oct. 14-18].
