The Bears had their best showing in the week-long tournament since Vlasak became head coach

LAS VEGAS - The Northern Colorado Women's Tennis team finished competing at the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament on Friday, highlighting and ending their fall season.

"We are extremely happy and very proud of our overall team efforts in both singles and doubles this week," head coach Brenda Vlasak said. "We had the opportunity to play many top players and pulled out some big wins, proving that we can compete at the same top level."

The showing is the best the team has had since becoming a Division I program, including having one doubles team make it to the semifinals, the furthest a doubles team has gotten since becoming Division I. Beth Coton and Remi Immler were eliminated by a team from BYU in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

"This is the best doubles performance we've had in program history; these two are a brand-new team and they are already showing great promise as to what they can accomplish together. The chemistry that these two have had developed in such a short period of time and is a characteristic of what most top doubles teams exhibit. We are excited to continue working with these two and help them potentially obtain a top-national ranking."

The team now moves into their off-season, but will return to action for their spring schedule on Jan. 30th at 10AM MT, when they host CSU-Pueblo in Greeley.
