Game Time
- Northern Colorado (4-3, 2-3 Big Sky) is looking to regroup after a heartbreaking loss to #7 Eastern Washington (41-43) last Saturday as they head to Arizona for a league matchup against rival Northern Arizona (4-3, 2-2 Big Sky) in a 3:00 p.m. (MT) kick on Oct. 31. For more detailed information please visit our GAMEDAY CENTRAL.
Â
Special Teams University
- Northern Colorado boasts the best punt return and kickoff return units in the FCS. The Bears currently average 24.5 yards on punt returns and 31.9 yards on kick returns. Both return teams have two TDs apiece under their belts.
Â
Too Fast
- Last Saturday both redshirt sophomores Ellis Onic II and Hakeem Deggs both had special teams TDs. Onic returned a 75 yard punt for a TD and Deggs took a kickoff 93 yards for six. It was the first time in nearly three decades and the first in D1 program history that the team had a punt return and a kickoff return for a touchdown in the same game. Both Onic and Deggs have two return TDs this season.
Â
Alex, Who?
- Redshirt freshman Alex Wesley has suddenly came on as of late in the receiving game. In the last two games Wesley has 7 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Â
Career Day
- Redshirt freshman TE, Michael McCauley had a career day in the loss against EWU. McCauley hauled in four balls for 111 yards receiving and 3 TDs. Both the receiving yards and touchdowns were a career-high for the young tight end.
Â
Back To Full Strength
- For the first time since week 1, the Bears are at full strength at the running back spot. Redshirt freshman Trae Riek was on a limited snap count in the EWU game, but will be given the green light this weekend against NAU. UNC also gets back, redshirt sophomore RB, Anthony Davis. Davis hasn't played since week two, after battling concussion and hamstring issues.
Â
Mature For His Age
- Redshirt freshman QB Jacob Knipp had his best complete game of the season, leading a 4th quarter comeback against Eastern Washington. Down by 12, with 5:13 to play, Knipp led the offense on two scoring drives to give them the lead. He finished the day 20-29-0 with 257 yards passing and 4 TD tosses. Both his yardage and TDs were career-highs.
Â
Break Ups
- Both junior Safety Taylor Risner and senior corner A.J. Battle have five PBUs on the season with four games left to play. They both need just five more to tie the Division I record set in 2014 by former corner Courtney Hall, who holds the record with 10 PBUs in one season. Hall is also the career PBU record holder in Division I program history with 21.
Â
Boo Bears
- Northern Colorado is currently 7-4 overall in games played on Halloween. They program is 3-2 in the last five games played on the 31st and won its last matchup over South Dakota, 21-17, in 2009.
Â
vs. NAU
- Northern Colorado is 3-12 all-time against the Lumberjacks and 1-6 in games played in Flagstaff. The last UNC won in Arizona came in 1964.
Young Is An Understatement
- For the majority of the Eastern Washington game the Bears lined up with two redshirt sophomores (Onic, Deggs) and a redshirt freshman (Wesley) at wide receiver, a redshirt freshman (McCauley) at tight end, a redshirt freshman (Knipp) at quarterback and a redshirt freshman (Riek) at running back.

Â
Kickers Doing Kicker Things
- Since taking over the starting place kicker role, Junior Jamie Falloon has been perfect on the season. He's 3-for-3 on FGs with his longest coming from 38 yds out and 18-of-18 on PATs. He also is 1-1 on onside kick conversions.
