Brooke Richards was named the Director of Strategic Communications at the University of Northern Colorado in December 2025, after initially joining the department as the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications in October 2024.
Richards came to Greeley following a stint at the University of Tennessee as a Strategic Communications Student Assistant.
While at Tennessee, Richards was involved in the coverage of the 2024 Lady Vols volleyball team and served as the official statistician at home events, in addition to her role as the Assistant Director of Volleyball Operations. During her time in Knoxville, she also assisted with press box operations in Neyland Stadium during home football games.
Prior to her time in Knoxville, Richards served as a student assistant in the athletic communications department at West Texas A&M from 2022 until her graduation in May 2024. She played a key role in the department’s creative content efforts and served as the lead statistician for all 14 sports.
In her role as Director at Northern Colorado, Richards oversees the strategic communications department, managing all media relations and communications efforts for her assigned teams while leading and training the department’s 10+ student interns. Her responsibilities include media relations, social media strategy, photography, live statistics across all sports, and press conference operations.
A Michigan native, Richards graduated summa cum laude from West Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations in May 2024. She is an active member of College Sports Communicators, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), and Women Leaders in Sports. Richards also serves on the CSC Career Services Committee and Advocacy Committee and was one of 22 recipients selected from more than 140 applicants for the CSC UNITE25 Convention Attendance Grant, which provides full convention registration and financial assistance for travel and lodging to attend the annual convention.
