Kari Korver enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Northern Colorado basketball team.
In Korver's first season on the UNC staff, the Bears went 21-11 overall and 15-5 in the Big Sky to finish second. Northern Colorado earned a bid to the WNIT in 2018-19 as well, the fourth time in program history qualifying for it.
Korver brings recent playing experience to the staff having played at UCLA from 2012-17 and recently overseas in Germany professional this past year. She was a contributor from her first year at UCLA helping the team to the WNIT championship in 2015 and a pair of NCAA Sweet 16 appearances. As a Bruin, Korver started at shooting guard three of her four seasons and was a team captain in four of the five years with the team. She overcame a torn ACL before her sophomore season. Korver scored 1,098 points at UCLA, the majority from beyond the arc as she shot 36.80 percent from 3-point range making 255 threes.
Outside of the lines of the basketball court, she succeeded as well, earning Pac 12 All-Academic honors three times, including first team her senior year as a double major in communications and sociology.
Korver has experience in player development, as a counselor in basketball camps for elementary, middle and high schoolers, also giving individual one-on-one lessons as well. In 2017 she served as the head junior varsity coach for Palisades Charter High School and varsity assistant.
Korver is the cousin of NBA veteran Kyle Korver, while three other cousins played Division I college basketball too.
