Jana Pearson is in her third year as an assistant coach at Northern Colorado.
Pearson's post players flexed their muscles once again in 2019-20. Freshmen Alisha Davis led the Big Sky Conference in shooting percentage at 53.0, finished fifth in rebounding (7.5 rpg) and second in blocked shots (2.5 bpg). As a unit, the Bears were certified glass cleaners, finishing second in the conference in rounding (+4.4 margin).
During her first season on the UNC staff, the Bears went 21-11 overall and 15-5 in the Big Sky. Working with Northern Colorado's post players, Pearson helped Ali Meyer set the program record for rebounds in a season with 348. The team also led the Big Sky with a +3.4 rebound margin.
Pearson came to UNC after spending four years working as an assistant coach at NAIA national power, Vanguard University in Costa Mesa California.
Her extensive experience in recruiting, game analysis, practice and game planning and scouting, as well as her expertise in individual player development, are just a few of the attributes Pearson brings to the program.
Pearson will work with the post players and spearhead UNC's recruiting efforts as an assistant.
Before coaching at Vanguard University, Pearson was at another NAIA program in Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. She worked as an assistant coach at FHU for four seasons. Pearson began her coaching career at Harding University as a graduate assistant for two years.
