Bears Fall Short to Denver on Friday Night

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado women's basketball (3-1) hosted Denver (1-3) on Friday night for an in-state clash at Bank of Colorado Arena. The Bears fell short in a close contest at home.
Northern Colorado opened the game with high energy, applying full-court pressure and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities. Aniah Hall closed the first quarter with five points, but Denver held an 18–15 lead after the opening frame.
In the second quarter, the Bears continued to disrupt Denver defensively, forcing nine turnovers in the first half and converting them into eight points. At halftime, the teams were locked at 29–29, with several Bears contributing across the box score. Tatum West added six points and three rebounds, while Neenah George tallied four points and four assists. Northern Colorado shot 41.7% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc through two quarters.
Early in the third, the Pioneers struck quickly with five points, but the Bears answered to take a 37–34 lead. Denver called a timeout midway through the quarter to halt Northern Colorado's run, but the Bears continued to execute, carrying a 44–38 advantage into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Denver opened with an 8–0 run, prompting an early Northern Colorado timeout. The Bears battled back and pulled within one point with 11 seconds remaining, but their late push fell short as Denver secured a 56–53 victory.

The Bears will head to DePaul next weekend for their first road trip of the season and compete in the DePaul Tournament.
