David James enters his second season as the Director of Operations for the University of Northern Colorado Women’s Basketball program.
Before joining the UNC women’s basketball staff, David was a high school coach in the Northern Colorado area. He began his coaching career at Lyons High School in Lyons, CO with both the basketball and volleyball programs. He coached there for 3 years before moving back to Boulder to help coach at Shining Mountain. In the 2016-2017 season, he joined the Centaurus High school women’s basketball program as the varsity assistant/JV coach. While at Centaurus High, David helped the Warriors to a 43-29 overall record winning the conference championship two of those three seasons.
David grew up in Huntsville, AR and graduated with a degree in physics from the University of Central Arkansas before moving to Boulder for his graduate degree at the University of Colorado. While there, he competed on the CU triathlon team. After graduation, David worked at CU’s IMPACT laboratory at LASP helping to calibrate and test unmanned missions around the Earth as well as to Jupiter, the Moon, Mars, and Pluto.
