Stormie Sickler officially began her role as Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of Northern Colorado on July 1, 2025. A dedicated member of the UNC Athletics Department since 2019, Sickler brings a strong background as a former coach, student-athlete, and administrator into her work supporting NCAA rules education, monitoring, and program integrity for Bear Athletics.
Sickler began her career at UNC as the Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach in August 2019. In recognition of her leadership, recruiting success, and athlete development, she was promoted to Associate Head Cross Country/Assistant Track and Field Coach in August 2023. During her time with the Bears, she helped multiple student-athletes qualify for NCAA regional competition, guided both men’s and women’s cross country programs to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, and contributed to numerous personal and program-best performances.
A native of Dickinson, North Dakota, Sickler competed in cross country and track and field at Dickinson State University from 2011 to 2016. She played a key role in helping the Bluehawks make their first-ever appearance at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships and secure their first outdoor track and field conference title in 37 years. Her personal bests included 59.55 in the 400m, 1:40.63 in the 600m, 2:17.10 in the 800m, and 19:35 in the 5K. She graduated from DSU with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Coaching.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Sickler served as a volunteer coach at Dickinson State during the spring of 2016, training sprinters, hurdlers, and relay teams. Her athletes earned NAIA Indoor and Outdoor national qualifying marks, including a 600m runner who posted a 1:22.11 at the NAIA Indoor Championships and a 100m hurdler who placed 6th at the Outdoor Championships with a 14.31—earning NAIA All-America honors.
From 2016 to 2018, Sickler worked as a graduate assistant at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota while earning her master’s degree in Sports Performance and Administration. At NSU, she helped elevate the women’s cross country program to a regional ranking of 9th—the program’s highest finish in over a decade. She also helped develop standout athletes such as:
Sasha Gallagher (Hovind): A nine-time NCAA Division II All-American and Elite 90 Award recipient who placed 10th at nationals in cross country (17:42), 12th in the indoor 5K (17:15), and earned All-American status in both the 10K and 5K during the 2018 outdoor season.
Dakotah Lindwurm (Bullen): An NCAA All-American in the 10K with a 6th-place finish in 2017 and later a professional marathoner. Lindwurm placed 5th at the 2019 USATF 25K Championships, qualified for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and finished 36th at the 2020 Trials with a time of 2:39.08.
Sickler holds several advanced certifications, including USATF Level 1, USTFCCCA Track & Field Technical Certification, USTFCCCA Sports Psychology for the Track and Field Coach, and USTFCCCA Sports Science for the Endurance Events.
She resides in Greeley, Colorado with her wife, Amy, and two dogs, Radar and Summit.
