UNC Athletics announced the hiring of Nick Maas as the next Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. Maas will officially begin in the role on June 11.
Maas comes to Northern Colorado having served as Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Wisconsin-Parkside since July 2019, leading the programs to record-breaking success and consistent contention in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and at the national level.
Throughout his tenure, Maas has consistently developed student-athletes, producing school records, NCAA qualifiers, and numerous all-conference performers while establishing a culture of sustained competitive success.
Maas has developed a program at Wisconsin-Parkside that is highlighted by All-American performers and multiple NCAA Championship qualifiers. His team also earned All-Region recognition and delivered record-setting performances at the conference level, posting program-best scoring totals at both the indoor and outdoor championships in recent years.
Prior to Wisconsin-Parkside, Maas coached at MSU Denver and Western Illinois, developing dozens of record-holders and national qualifiers.Â
Maas graduated from Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies in 2004. Â He earned his Master of Arts degree in Exercise Science with a physiology emphasis from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006.
