PREVIEW: Bears Set to Compete at CU Mark Simpson Invitational

GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado men's golf returns to action this week, traveling to Boulder Country Club for the 16th annual CU Mark Simpson Invitational, set for Sep. 29-30th hosted by the University of Colorado.Â
The Bears will compete against a strong 17-team field that includes Colorado, Denver, UTEP, Arkansas State, Utah, Pacific, Kansas City, Air Force, San Diego, Wyoming, Colorado State, Utah State, Boise State, Long Beach State, Utah Valley and Nevada.
The tournament will provide another opportunity for the Bears to test themselves against a competitive field as the team continues its fall schedule.
LAST APPROACH: Northern Colorado finished ninth at the Gene Miranda Invitational, carding a 1-over 865 at Eisenhower Golf Club. Cooper Tate led the Bears, finishing tied for 21st at 1-under 215 after firing a 3-under 69 in the final round. Campbell McFadden followed in a tie for 32nd at 1-over 217, while Tommie Clark placed 37th at 2-over 218. Kaelen Dulany finished tied for 48th at 4-over 220, and Thomas Barnes Grimes rounded out the lineup in a tie for 67th at 9-over 225. Competing as an individual, Matias Koropeski placed 11th at even par after closing with a 5-under 67.
ON DECK: Northern Colorado tees off Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. MT at Boulder Country Club. The tournament continues Wednesday with the final round.
