Bears Head to Denver for MSU Roadrunner Invite

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado returns to competition Friday, traveling to Denver for the MSU Denver Roadrunner Invite, where the men will race an 8K and the women a 6K. The women's race begins at 8:30 a.m., with the men's race to follow at 9:15 a.m. at Washington Park.
The meet marks the second outing of the fall for the Bears, who opened their season at the Wyoming Invite in Cheyenne earlier this month. Head coach Nick Maas, in his first season leading the program, said the focus remains on steady progress and running as a group.
The women's squad will feature Sofia Cambridge, Brooke Elfert, Braelyn Gifford, Isabella Lemus, Claire Nowels, Taylor Sheldon, Sabina Stroia and Jordain Stutzman.
Stroia paced the Bears in the season opener with a 15th-place finish, while Elfert and Nowels crossed together in 25th and 26th. Cambridge, Sheldon, Gifford, Stutzman and Lemus rounded out a Northern Colorado contingent that placed all eight runners inside the top 41.
The men's team will be represented by Max Kedrowski, Roddick Klopenstine, Noah Mayoral De Anza, Tristan Persons, Tad Rabenhorst, Cody Williams and Dylan Wilson.
Persons led the way at Wyoming, finishing 25th overall in 16:41.5 at a 5:22 pace. Williams followed in 28th, with Wilson, Mayoral De Anza and Kedrowski close behind in 31st, 33rd and 35th. Klopenstine will make his season debut for the Bears.
The Roadrunner Invite gives Northern Colorado another opportunity to build on its opening performance against regional competition before the schedule moves deeper into the fall.
