PREVIEW: Northern Colorado Set For Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Track and Field is set to compete at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, running Wednesday, May 13 through Saturday, May 16. The four-day meet will be hosted by Portland State at Mt. Hood Community College.
The Bears enter the championship weekend carrying momentum on both the men's and women's sides following a strong performance at the Air Force Twilight Open.

Big Sky Tournament
Date: May 13-16
Location: Gresham, Ore. (Mt. Hood CC)
LAST TIMEOUT: Northern Colorado track and field turned in a strong all-around performance at the Air Force Twilight Open, highlighted by event wins, podium finishes, and depth across the roster. The women's squad dominated the 100-meter hurdles, sweeping the top three spots behind Alexia Austin's record-breaking 13.41, followed by Donice Ezealah and Sherika Thomas. Monique Stewart added a victory in the 400 meters (55.17), while Caydence Brewer placed third in the event and finished runner-up in the 200. In the field events, Kiana Van Haaren captured the long jump title, while the Bears added second- and third-place finishes in the triple jump from Tamia John and Savanna Amack.
Additional highlights included a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters from Camaria Corder, a third place showing in the 400 hurdles by Vanessa Ward, and top six distance finishes from Claire Nowels and Jessica Wilson in the 3000. April Necaise and Ciara Piffarerio each cleared 1.60 meters in the high jump, while Gwen Seelye placed ninth in the javelin. On the men's side, Northern Colorado showcased sprint depth in the 100 meters with four top 10 finishes, led by Tyler Rogers in third, alongside Jaymison Whicmann, Johnny Fisher, and Maxwell Streufert.

BUILDING MOMENTUM: Northern Colorado continues to build consistency across both squads in the outdoor season, already notching several personal-best performances and marks that rank among the program's all-time lists.
