GREELEY, Colo. – Seven student-athletes from the Northern Colorado wrestling program earned recognition on the Big 12 Winter Academic Team, the conference announced Thursday.
The Big 12 honored the Bears for their dedication in the classroom, recognizing seven wrestlers who demonstrated excellence academically while competing throughout the season.
To qualify for the Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulatively or over the previous two semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen are not eligible, while transfers in their first year of academic residence are eligible. Senior student-athletes who have participated for at least two years and meet all criteria except percentage of participation are also eligible.
Northern Colorado's seven honorees reflect the program's commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, continuing a tradition of academic achievement for the Bears wrestling program.
With seven wrestlers earning the distinction, Northern Colorado wrestling continues to demonstrate the program's focus on developing well-rounded student-athletes who succeed in every aspect of the collegiate experience and set the standard.
