Bears Rally Late, Secure 9-7 Extra-Inning Win at UNLV on Wednesday
3/4/2026 6:43:00 PM | Baseball
The Bears struck first with a run in the opening frame and created separation with a three-run fourth inning to take early control. Northern Colorado continued to create offense throughout the middle innings, adding single runs in the fifth and sixth to keep pressure on the Rebels.
UNLV answered late, capitalizing on key opportunities in the sixth and erupting for three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to swing the momentum and eventually knot the game. After the Rebels tied it in the eighth, the contest headed to extra innings with both teams searching for the decisive breakthrough. Northern Colorado found it in the 10th. The Bears strung together quality at-bats and came through in clutch moments, plating two runs to reclaim the lead.
Jaden Stone paced the offense with a standout performance, going 4-for-6 with four RBIs to anchor the lineup. Brandon Sanchez set the tone at the top, reaching base three times, scoring twice, driving in a run, and swiping a bag. Jake Bullard added three hits of his own, while Logan Pruski contributed two hits and an RBI as Northern Colorado totaled 13 hits on the night.
The Bears also displayed patience and discipline at the plate, drawing six walks and consistently putting runners on base to challenge UNLV's pitching staff.
On the mound, Northern Colorado pieced together the win with contributions from multiple arms. Brady Hudson earned the victory with two composed innings in relief, surrendering just one run while navigating key situations. Jax Pfister closed it out in dominant fashion, striking out three in a perfect 10th inning to seal the save.
Though UNLV's Drew Barragan provided a spark for the Rebels with a home run and three RBIs, Northern Colorado's depth, composure, and ability to execute in high-pressure moments ultimately made the difference.
UP NEXT: The Bears travel to Orem, Utah, for a five-game series against the Utah Valley Wolverines beginning Friday, March 7. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. MT.
