GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado baseball continues its extended road trip with a two-game midweek series in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking on Mountain West foe UNLV. First pitch is set for Tuesday, March 3 at 7:05 p.m. MT
Fans can watch both games via YouTube live stream and follow along with updates on the official UNC Baseball social media channels.
LAST TIMEOUT: UNC battled throughout a four-game series at Bruce Hurst Field against the Utah Tech Trailblazers but came up short, falling by scores of 11–8, 6–5, 11–5 and 6–4. The Bears remained competitive all weekend and mounted multiple late-inning rallies, yet Utah Tech capitalized in key moments to secure the sweep. Friday's contest featured one of the weekend's biggest highlights when Ethan Fillinger launched a sixth-inning grand slam to ignite an offensive surge and shift momentum in UNC's favor. In Sunday's finale, Jaden Stone turned in a flawless 4-for-4 performance at the plate, leading an 11-hit team effort.
NOTES ABOUT THE BEARS: Offensively, UNC is hitting .266 as a team with 102 hits and 48 RBI through 12 games. The lineup is paced by Zeke Minic (.375), Jake Bullard (.318, five doubles, one home run), and Jaden Stone (.317, 10 runs), who continue to provide consistent contact and on-base production. Easton Bryant (.313, eight RBI) and Logan Pruski (.310) add depth to the order, while Ethan Mooser (.250, five doubles) brings gap power.
Defensively, the Bears hold a .965 fielding percentage, with Bullard and Stone anchoring steady efforts in the field.
SCOUTING UNLV: UNLV enters the series at 9–3 and has established itself as a balanced, disciplined club capable of scoring in multiple ways. The Rebels are hitting .313 as a team with a .429 on-base percentage, consistently extending at-bats and creating traffic on the bases. Their offense relies more on depth and quality contact than a single power threat, and they are aggressive and efficient on the basepaths (15-for-16 in stolen base attempts). On the mound, UNLV owns a 5.65 team ERA with 138 strikeouts across 106.2 innings. The Rebels lean on a deep bullpen that can miss bats and close out games effectively. However, command has been an area of concern, as walks have elevated pitch counts and opened the door for opponents to force early pitching changes, particularly at the back end of the rotation. Defensively, UNLV is fundamentally sound, posting a .961 fielding percentage and doing a solid job controlling the running game. Overall, the Rebels are patient and well-rounded, thriving in methodical contests but susceptible to aggressive, early-count hitting and pressure on their starting pitchers.
ON DECK: Following the midweek set in Las Vegas, the Bears travel to Orem, Utah, for a five-game series against Utah Valley beginning Friday, March 6. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. MT. The series marks the final stop in a 19-game road stretch before UNC returns home to Greeley to open conference play March 13 against St. Thomas.
