Bears Push Utah Tech in Both Games, Drop Doubleheader on the Road

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Northern Colorado Bears baseball suffered a pair of close, hard-fought setbacks against Utah Tech in a doubleheader in St. George, falling 6–5 in game one before dropping an 11–5 decision in game two.
GAME ONE
Utah Tech struck early with three runs in the first inning and added three more in the third to build a 6–1 advantage. Northern Colorado responded with a three-run fifth inning to pull within two and later brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh before the Trailblazers closed the door.
The Bears totaled nine hits in the contest and were led offensively by Jake Bullard and Easton Bryant. Bullard finished 2-for-2 with a double and two walks, while Bryant went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jaden Stone added an RBI single, and Ethan Mooser chipped in a double and an RBI.
Mason Griffin delivered one of the biggest swings of the game for Northern Colorado, launching a solo home run in the seventh inning. Griffin also scored twice, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate. On the mound, Jake Storey took the loss after working 5.0 innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts. Luke Guest and Lucas Stone combined for a scoreless final inning to keep the Bears within striking distance.
Northern Colorado threatened late after Griffin's home run cut the deficit to one, but Utah Tech's bullpen recorded the final outs to secure the win. The Bears finished the game with five runs on nine hits, two walks and three errors.
GAME TWO
In game two, the Bears dropped an 11–5 decision despite collecting 10 hits in the contest. Northern Colorado jumped on the board early with two runs in the top of the first inning. Brandon Sanchez lifted a sacrifice fly to drive in the opening run before Jaden Stone followed with an RBI single to give the Bears an early 2–0 lead.
Utah Tech responded quickly, scoring in each of the first four innings to take control of the game. The Trailblazers pushed across one run in the first, one in the second, three in the third and two more in the fourth to build a 7–2 advantage.
The Bears answered in the sixth inning with a three-run rally to pull within two. Easton Bryant delivered an RBI single, Logan Pruski added an RBI base hit and Ethan Mooser drove in another run to cut the deficit to 7–5.
Mooser led Northern Colorado offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Zeke Minic finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Stone reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and an RBI. Sanchez and Pruski each drove in a run as part of the Bears scoring.
Utah Tech regained momentum with a run in the sixth and then broke the game open in the eighth inning with three more runs to extend the lead to 11–5.
Trevor Landen took the loss after allowing five runs over three innings. Logan Borboa and Jax Pfister combined to cover the final five innings in relief. Northern Colorado closed the day with five runs on 10 hits and three walks.
