Tate and Barnes Grimes Lead Northern Colorado into Day Two at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz - Northern Colorado men's golf opened play on Sunday at the Loyola Intercollegiate with a balanced team effort and sit 10th on the team leader board following the opening round.

Northern Colorado was led by a pair of strong performances at the top of the lineup, as Cooper Tate and Thomas Barnes Grimes each carded 2-under-par 70 to finish the day tied for 13th. Both golfers stayed steady throughout the round, giving the Bears two counting scores well inside the top 15 heading into day two.

Kaelen Dulany followed closely behind, posting an even-par round to finish T38, keeping the Bears firmly in the middle of the team race after the first 18 holes.

Rounding out the team scoring, Lucas Raoul and Rowan MacDonald both finished the opening round at +8, ending the day tied for 116th.

Competing as an individual, Talan Gover turned in a solid opening round of +5, placing him T101 on the individual leader board.

With multiple players positioned near the top of the field, Northern Colorado will look to build on its strong start and climb the leader board when play resumes for the second round of the Loyola Intercollegiate.
