Bears Drop Road Dual to North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. – Northern Colorado wrestling fell on the road Friday night, dropping a 30-11 dual to North Dakota State inside Scheels Arena.
The Bison opened the night strong at 125 pounds, as No. 17 Ezekiel Witt secured a first-period take down and a fall win over Kade Orr to give NDSU an early 6-0 advantage.
At 133, No. 13 Dominick Serrano responded for the Bears with a controlled 4-1 decision over Tristan Daugherty, using a second-period take down and steady pace to cut the team score to 6-3. North Dakota State extended its lead at 141, where Zytavius Williams picked up an 18-3 technical fall over Tobey Ravida, who was making his conference season dual debut for the Bears, pushing the score to 11-3.
Northern Colorado gained momentum at 149 pounds behind a dominant performance from KJ Evans, who recorded multiple take downs, near-fall points, and over two minutes of riding time en route to a 15-0 technical fall over Peyton Moore, trimming the deficit to 11-8.
At 157, Daishun Powe led entering the third period, but Gavin Drexler rallied late for a 6-4 decision, extending the Bison lead to 14-8. After the intermission, Kilian Schultz delivered a strong showing at 165, earning three first-period take downs and holding off a late push to secure a 16-10 decision over Boeden Greenley, making the team score 14-11.
North Dakota State responded at 174, as Max Magayna used near-fall points and riding time to claim a 13-4 major decision over Murphy Menke. The Bison continued to build separation at 184 and 197, with Aiden Brenot defeating Mahonri Rushton 13-5 by major decision and Devin Wasley earning an 11-1 major over Tyler Perry.
At heavyweight, Shilo Jones capped the dual with a 12-1 major decision against Enzo Cappabianca.
In an extra bout at 149 pounds, Northern Colorado's Brady Hankin picked up a first-period pin over Peyton Moore.
North Dakota State ultimately secured the dual victory by a final score of 30-11.
UP NEXT: The Bears will continue their road trip with a visit to Brookings, S.D., where they will face No. 23 South Dakota State on Sunday, February 1. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. MT.
