UNC Shows Depth Across Pool and Boards in Road Dual at Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Northern Colorado swimming & diving turned in a number of strong individual performances Saturday morning but ultimately fell 179-121 to Colorado State in a dual at the Moby Aquatic Center.
The Bears were paced in the pool by a pair of standout breaststroke swims from Maria Erokhina, who delivered two of UNC's highest-scoring efforts of the day. Erokhina placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.63 before adding another first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:19.74. Avi Tromp contributed additional points in the 100 breast (1:04.56) with a second-place finish, while Agathi Manoli and Hlaa Diab turned in solid showings in the 400-yard individual medley.
Kyra Rabess led the Bears' freestyle group with three strong races, placing second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.85), first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.44), and first again in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:38.23. Emma On-the-Hill followed closely in the 1,000 free, finishing in 10:40.17. Ellyson Lombardi added one of UNC's top scoring swims in the 200-yard butterfly, placing first with a time of 2:04.54, while Ariane Bernier, Alexis Mishler and Vitoria Simioni provided depth across the backstroke and sprint freestyle events.
On the boards, Violet Noel delivered another impressive performance with two podium finishes. Noel placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 267.00, finishing just five points behind Colorado State's Sydney Ovesen. She followed with a third-place showing on the 1-meter board, totaling 252.45 points, to cap a strong afternoon for the Bears' diving group.
UP NEXT: The Bears will host Utah Tech on Saturday, February 7 at 10 a.m. in Butler-Hancock Pool.
