PREVIEW: Bears Host Rams for In-State Match Up
9/1/2025 12:00:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
GREELEY, Colo. — The University of Northern Colorado Volleyball team is set to return to Bank of Colorado Arena for a highly anticipated in-state rivalry matchup against Colorado State University on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Bears are coming off an eventful opening weekend at home, where they split their first two matches. UNC showcased impressive resilience and competitive fire, securing a thrilling five-set victory over Big Ten opponent Washington — an early statement win. However, the momentum didn't fully carry through, as the Bears dropped their second match in straight sets to a well-disciplined Colgate squad.
Now, all eyes turn to Tuesday night's clash with the Rams in what promises to be a charged, high-energy contest between two of Colorado's top volleyball programs. Colorado State currently leads the all-time series 23-10, but the Bears are hoping to ride the energy of their home crowd to close the gap and gain another marquee non-conference win.
In last season's meeting, the Bears went on the road to Moby Arena and took down CSU in four sets, marking one of their most memorable wins of 2024.
Scouting the Rams
Colorado State comes into the match with a 1-1 record, having also faced Colgate and Washington over the weekend. The Rams swept Colgate in commanding fashion but fell just short in a tightly contested five-set battle against Washington.
CSU is looking to build on a strong 2024 campaign, where the team finished 20-11 overall and posted an impressive 14-4 record in conference play. The Rams will present a tough test for the Bears on both sides of the net.
