Northern Colorado Earns Multiple Big Sky Team Academic Champion Honors for Third Consecutive Year

Women's Soccer, Women's Cross Country Recognized
FARMINGTON, Utah – Academic excellence continues to be a hallmark of Northern Colorado Athletics, as UNC women's soccer and women's cross country have been named 2024-25 Big Sky Team Academic Champions, the league office announced Thursday.
UNC women's soccer claimed the honor outright with a team GPA of 3.76, while women's cross country shared top honors with Weber State, each posting a 3.83 GPA.
This marks the third consecutive year that a Northern Colorado program has earned Big Sky Team Academic Champion recognition:
2022-23: Women's Basketball (co-champion with Idaho)
2023-24: Women's Golf
2024-25: Women's Soccer & Women's Cross Country
"We are extremely proud of the effort that our student-athletes put out in the classroom to achieve such a high average GPA," said head soccer coach Tim Barrera. "Credit goes to the players and our academic staff."
I'm incredibly proud of our women's cross country team for being named Big Sky Academic Champions," said head coach Wayne Angel. "These young women are the definition of student-athletes. Their discipline, drive, and commitment to excellence, both on the course and in the classroom, set a standard for our entire program. They've truly earned this recognition."
Now in its third year, the Big Sky Team Academic Champions program honors the team with the highest cumulative GPA in each sponsored sport, based on academic performance across the full academic year.

Women's Cross Country: Northern Colorado & Weber State (3.83)
Volleyball: Idaho State (3.75)
Soccer: Northern Colorado (3.76)
Football: Weber State (3.39)
Men's Track & Field: Idaho (3.60)
Women's Track & Field: Weber State (3.72)
Men's Basketball: Weber State (3.71)
Women's Basketball: Montana State (3.73)
Men's Tennis: Montana (3.84)
Women's Tennis: Portland State (3.77)
Women's Golf: Eastern Washington (3.95)
Softball: Weber State (3.67)
