GREELEY, Colo. – Freshman sprinter Zander Cruzan has been named this week's Lunas Tacos Student Athlete of the Week after a breakout performance at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, where he captured a conference title and multiple postseason honors.
Cruzan claimed gold in the 400m with a winning time of 46.42, earning All-Conference recognition. He added a third-place finish in the 200m (21.41) to collect a second All-Conference nod and helped power the men's 4x100m relay team to a runner-up finish in 40.51. Cruzan also ran a leg in the 4x400m, helping the squad to an eighth-place result.
His efforts across four events earned him Co-Men's Freshman of the Year honors, sharing the distinction with Montana's Braden Ankeny. Cruzan's impact as a first-year standout helped pace Northern Colorado's strong finish at the championship meet and secured his spot as a Lunas Tacos Student Athlete of the Week.
