GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado head volleyball coach Lyndsey Oates unveiled the Bears' 2025 schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by four preseason tournaments, a visit from Big 12 opponent Colorado, and a 16-match Big Sky Conference slate that includes the Big Sky Championship to be held at Bank of Colorado Arena.
"We are very excited about the fall schedule," said Head Coach Lyndsey Oates, "It is a great mix of competition for this year's team. We always want to put ourselves in position to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament if we win the right matches and I think we have done that again."
Northern Colorado opens the year with an exhibition on August 23 at Arizona before hosting a three-day tournament at home from August 29–31. The Bears will face Washington on opening night and Colgate the following day. The tournament concludes with a neutral-site match between Washington and Colgate on Sunday.
Following the home tournament, UNC hosts in-state rival Colorado State on September 2, before embarking on three consecutive weekends of tournament play on the road. At the BYU Tournament in Provo (Sept. 4–6), the Bears take on BYU, Incarnate Word, and Wichita State. The following week, UNC travels to California to face Cal Poly and compete in the UC Santa Barbara Tournament, where matchups include Kansas State and UCSB.
Non-conference play wraps up at the Air Force Tournament (Sept. 19–20), with matches against Utah Tech, Air Force, and Denver.
Big Sky competition begins on the road at Weber State on September 24. The conference slate includes 16 matches, with home-and-away series against several familiar opponents. Northern Colorado hosts Eastern Washington for its Big Sky home opener on September 27.
Conference road trips include back-to-back matches at Montana and Montana State (Oct. 2 and 4), as well as a late-season stretch through Portland State and Sacramento State (Nov. 6 and 8). The Bears also face Idaho, Northern Arizona, and Idaho State throughout October and November.
Northern Colorado hosts Colorado on October 28 in a non-conference match that breaks up the Big Sky schedule. It marks the third time in three years the two teams have met.
The regular season concludes with a home match against Northern Arizona on November 21. The Big Sky Tournament will be held November 24–26 in Greeley. NCAA Tournament first and second rounds are scheduled for December 4–6, followed by regionals (Dec. 11–14) and the national semifinals and finals in Kansas City, Missouri, December 18–21.
*Schedule is subject to change.
