Six Bears Record Two Hits Each Saturday
RENO, Nev. – Carter Monda doubled twice and Luke Guest tossed 1.2 scoreless frames for Northern Colorado against Nevada in Saturday's doubleheader at Peccole Park.
UNC (5-6) fell in both games of the twin bill against the Wolf Pack (6-5).
Carter Monda, Kai Wagner, Jake Bullard, Jake King, Dalton Miller and Anthony Stellato each registered two hits over the two games. Monda recorded two doubles, while Wagner tallied one.
Brandon Sanchez, AJ Carter and Brett Barber accounted for a base knock apiece. Sanchez scored twice, while Bullard, Wagner, Monda, King and Stellato crossed the plate once.
Guest struck out one and allowed one hit, retiring five of six batters he faced.

With two outs in the ninth, the tying run on third and the potential winning run on second, Nevada walked Wagner intentionally to load the bags.

Dylan Smith, who started on the mound for the Bears, held the Wolf Pack scoreless through the first four innings. A lead-off triple and a groundout plated the home side's first tally. Following a second consecutive out on the ground, six batters reached and the advantage decreased to 6-3.
A pair of 2-run home runs by Nevada accounted for all the scoring in the seventh and pushed the Wolf Pack in front 7-6.
UNC left the bases loaded in the sixth inning, with two more left on in the eighth.
Smith allowed three runs on seven hits, two walks and three hit batters, with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
