Bears Fall at South Dakota State

Serrano, Alirez and Alanis Score Victories for UNC
BROOKINGS, S.D. – No. 17 Northern Colorado (9-5, 2-3 Big 12) suffered a 30-10 setback against No. 14 South Dakota State (13-3, 5-1 Big 12) at First Bank and Trust Arena Friday.
The Bears jumped out to a 10-0 advantage with victories in each of the first three bouts. South Dakota State won the final seven contests.
133 | No. 14 Dominick Serrano registered a takedown in the first and led No. 26 Derrick Cardinal 3-1 after one round. He added a second takedown in the second and added an escape point and riding bonus for the 8-2 victory.
141 | No. 2 Andrew Alirez earned a major decision over No. 22 Julian Tagg to remain undefeated on the campaign. Alirez did not allow an offensive point and secured an 11-3 triumph with a takedown in each round. He added an escape point and the riding time bonus.
149 | Benji Alanis built a 3-1 gap after the opening round with a takedown of Avery Allen. Allen trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with an escape in the second. Alanis escaped from the bottom in the third, pushing the gap out to 4-2 and held on despite surrendering a point for stalling.
157 | No. 18 Cobe Siebrecht registered the lone takedown and defeated No. 15 Vincent Zerban 4-1.
