2024-25 / JUNIOR:
Season: Rix-McElhinney went 3-9 on the season with one tech fall… Rix-McElhinney was selected as a NWCA Scholar All-American.
CSU Bakersfield (01/10): Rix-McElhinney won by tech fall over Chris Neal, 19-4. Arizona State (02/02): Rix-McElhinney won by decision over Max Wilner, 10-5. 2025 Big XII Championships (03/08-09): Rix-McElhinney went 2-3 at the Big XII Championships and took home eight overall at 174 pounds.
2024 / U20 PAN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Rix-McElhinney had the opportunity to compete at the U20 Pan American Championships (Greco-Roman), where he took home the gold at 77kg over Peru’s, Dario Cubas Castillo. Rix-McElhinney was also awarded the Golden Boot award for outstanding wrestler of the Greco-Roman tournament. Rix-McElhinney won every match with bonus points.
2023-24 / SOPHOMORE:
Season: During Rix-McElhinney’s sophomore season, he went 8-10 with one fall, three tech falls, and one major decision win.
Fort Hays State (11/03): Rix-McElhinney won by tech fall over Juan Urbina, 27-10. New Mexico Highlands (11/03): Rix-McElhinney won by pin over Thomas Tolbert. Buffalo (11/17): Rix-McElhinney won by tech fall over Marcus Petite, 19-4. Black Knight Invitational (11/19): Rix-McElhinney went 2-2 on the day and had a win by major decision and one by decision. Cougar Clash (12/02): Rix-McElhinney went 2-2 and took home fourth place at the tournament. Air Force (02/18): Rix-McElhinney won by decision over Noah Blake, 8-5.
2022-23 / FRESHMAN:
Season: During Rix-McElhinney’s freshman season, he went 12-3 with six falls and two tech falls… Rix-McElhinney started off his collegiate career at the Cougar Clash where he went 4-2 and took home fourth place.
Cougar Clash (12/04): Rix-McElhinney took home fourth place with a 4-2 record at the tournament. UNC Quad Duals (12/18): Rix-McElhinney went undefeated at the Quad Duals, recording one pin and two tech falls over his opponents. Western Colorado Open (01/06): Rix-McElhinney went 5-1 and took home third place. All five of Rix-McElhinney’s wins were pins.
HIGH SCHOOL / PERSONAL:
During Rix-McElhinney’s high school years, he was a three-time state qualifier… Placing second his sophomore year, fourth his junior year, and third his senior year… Rix-McElhinney achieved honors all four years.
Rix-McElhinney chose UNC because of the culture, the team, and the coaches… Rix-McElhinney wants to work his way to a world and Olympic medal… His greatest sports moment was when he competed at the World Championships.
