Placide, Bennett to Attend USAV WNT Open Program

Over 160 collegiate athletes will train at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs on February 21-23 for the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Program
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado volleyball is sending two student-athletes to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this weekend as they take part in the Women's National Team Open Program (WNTOP).
Isabel Bennett and Gabi Placide are set to join more than 160 volleyball players from around the country for the Open Program.
The WNT Open Program, which runs February 21-23, is a key development opportunity for potential selection to both the U.S. Women's National Team and National Team Development Program (NTDP) age-group national teams. In 2025, members of the U.S. Women's National Team will compete in the following events: Volleyball Nations League, Pan American Cup and NORCECA Final Six.
In addition to national team evaluations, representatives from LOVB, PVF, and Athletes Unlimited will be present to discuss professional opportunities. Athletes will also have the chance to participate in a Q&A session with two-time Olympian Jordan Thompson and U.S. Women's National Team athlete Sarah Franklin.
A 2024 Big Sky All-Conference First Team and AVCA All-Region selection, Placide led UNC with 496 kills and 585.5 points while adding 91 blocks and 198 digs. She posted double-digit kills in 28 matches, including a season-high 25 kills and 14 digs against Sacramento State. A two-time Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week, she was also named to the 2024 Big Sky Fall All-Academic Team.
A 2024 Big Sky All-Conference Second Team selection, Bennett played in 138 sets and led UNC with 346.5 points, 273 kills on .371 hitting, and 125 blocks. She topped the team in hitting percentage (.371) and ranked second in total blocks. She recorded double-digit kills in 14 matches, highlighted by a season-best 21 kills on .724 hitting against Appalachian State.
