Men’s Basketball Looks for a Season Sweep over the Vikings
GREELEY, Colo – The Northern Colorado men's basketball team (19-7, 11-2 Big Sky) are set to face Portland State (15-10, 7-5 Big Sky) in a Big Sky Conference matchup on Saturday, February 15 at 3 p.m. MST/2 p.m. PST in Portland, Oregon.
The Bears secured a convincing win over the Hornets last night, winning 77-61 in Sacramento.
The Bears continue their strong start to conference play, with a current 11-2 record and are currently tied for first place with the Montana Grizz in Big Sky Standings. Northern Colorado is leading all Big Sky teams in scoring, averaging 81.2 points per game. Isaiah Hawthorne and Langston Reynolds lead the Bears in scoring, averaging 17.2 and 17.0 points per game, respectively.
A key aspect in the game will be the battle on the offensive end of the court. Northern Colorado ranks first in the Big Sky in points per game (81.2 ppg) while Portland State ranks second (77.1).
LAST TIME OUT
Northern Colorado jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never trailed throughout the 40 minutes against the Hornets. Isaiah Hawthorne led the Bears with 24 points and added eight rebounds, three assists, five steals and two blocks. Reynolds recorded 14 points while McCreary and Rillie added 11 points each. The Bears finished the contest shooting 44.6% from the field.

The Bears will make the trek back to Greeley to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles on Thursday, February 20 at 6 p.m. MST.
