RALEIGH, N.C. – The Northern Colorado Bears dropped a 30-3 decision to No. 7 NC State on Saturday evening inside Reynolds Coliseum. Despite the final score, the Bears battled through several tightly contested matches against a Wolfpack lineup stacked with nationally ranked wrestlers.

At 133 pounds, senior Dom Serrano—ranked No. 14 nationally—provided the Bears' highlight of the night. Serrano earned a thrilling overtime victory over No. 19 Zach Redding, securing Northern Colorado's lone win and trimming the deficit to 4-3.
In the 141-pound bout, redshirt sophomore KJ Evans went on the attack against No. 7 Ryan Jack but came up short in a 12-4 major decision. NC State extended its lead to 8-3. At 149 pounds, redshirt junior Emilio Trujillo battled No. 13 Koy Buesgens but dropped a 10-2 major decision, making it 12-3 Wolfpack.
The 157-pound match up was one of the evening's closest. Sophomore Daishun Powe went toe-to-toe with No. 6 Jackson Arrington, narrowly falling 5-4 in regulation as NC State pushed its lead to 15-3.
