GREELEY, Colo. — Northern Colorado wrestling is set to hit the road for the second time in the early 2025–26 season. The Bears are coming off a challenging East Coast trip, where they opened their campaign against No. 7 NC State and No. 23 North Carolina.
At 133 pounds, senior Dominick Serrano—ranked No. 14 nationally at the time, currently No.11—delivered the highlight of the night. Serrano secured a dramatic overtime win against No. 19 Zach Redding, earning Northern Colorado's lone victory and closing the gap to 4–3.
At North Carolina, Daishun Rowe applied steady pressure throughout his 157-pound match, while Kilian Schultz nearly pulled off an upset at 165, narrowly falling 8–5 to No. 19 Bryce Hepner. At 174 pounds, Murphy Menke put together a gritty performance against No. 15 Joshua Ogunsanya, keeping the contest tight into the final period.
In the upper weights, Mahonri Rushton battled Jake Dailey in a hard-fought 184-pound match, coming up just short in a 4–3 decision.
Andrew Donahue and Enzo Cappabianca closed out the dual at 197 pounds and heavyweight, respectively, competing with toughness throughout their bouts.
Next up, the Bears shift their focus to the Younes Hospitality Open, hosted by Nebraska Kearney.
The tournament-style event begins at 8 a.m. MST and will offer Northern Colorado another valuable opportunity to test themselves against a strong field.
