GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado swimming & diving is set for a championship-style test this week as the Bears travel to Cleveland for the 13th annual Magnus Cup Invitational, hosted inside Busbey Natatorium. Competition runs Thursday through Saturday with prelims beginning at 7 a.m. MST, diving at 11 a.m. MST, and finals at 4 p.m. MST each day.
ABOUT THE MEET
The Magnus Cup features six swimming sessions plus three diving sessions across the three-day event. Finals will follow an expanded multi-heat format, with the women racing in D, C, B, and A Finals (10 per heat).
This year's field includes three women's-only programs, Akron, Bowling Green, and Northern Colorado, alongside combined squads Binghamton, Cleveland State, John Carroll, Le Moyne, St. Bonaventure, and Xavier.
There will be no video stream available, but fans can follow live results on Meet Mobile. Single-session and all-session tickets are available for purchase.
SCOUTING THE MAGNUS CUP FIELD
Widely regarded as one of the premier mid-season invitationals in the region, the Magnus Cup offers teams an early championship-style atmosphere with deep prelims and nighttime finals racing.
Northern Colorado enters the meet looking to test its improving depth and build on one of the strongest starts to a fall season in program history.
LAST TIME OUT
Northern Colorado capped its fall dual schedule with a commanding 212-88 win over Cal Baptist at Butler-Hancock Pool, highlighted by strong performances across every event group. The Bears opened with a decisive victory in the 200 medley relay, earning a CSCAA qualifying time, before rolling through the individual events, led by a school-record swim from Kyra Rabess in the 1000 free and additional wins in the 500. Martina Yuki Trionfetti swept the 100 and 200 free, Ariane Bernier took both backstroke events, and Maria Erokhina added three titles between the breaststroke and IM. Ellyson Lombardi dominated the butterfly races, and UNC showed its sprint depth with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 50 free. On the boards, Violet Noel led the diving group with a runner-up finish on 3-meter, supported by top-five efforts from Addison Campbell and Mireya Ruiz. The Bears sealed the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay, securing their 11th event win of the day.
