WEEK 10 RECAP: Northern Colorado football (3-5, 1-3 Big Sky) came up short on Saturday afternoon, falling 27-16 to No. 6/6 UC Davis (6-1, 4-0 Big Sky) at Nottingham Field. After UC Davis built a 24-0 lead in the first half, the Bears responded with a quick three-play, 80-yard drive capped by a 51-yard touchdown strike from Eric Gibson Jr. to Brayden Munroe with 24 seconds left in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 24-7 at the break. Northern Colorado's defense stiffened after halftime, holding the Aggies scoreless in the third quarter. The Bears capitalized midway through the period when Brandon Johnson powered in from two yards out to pull UNC within 24-13. Early in the fourth, Jacob Willig connected on a 29-yard field goal to make it a one-possession game, but UC Davis sealed the win with a 41-yard field goal in the closing minute. Gibson finished the day 31-of-45 passing for 269 yards and a touchdown, marking his sixth straight 200-yard outing of the season. Munroe led the receiving corps with eight catches for 100 yards and a score, while Carver Cheeks added eight receptions for 79 yards. Johnson paced the ground game with 65 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Defensively, Cam Chapa and Franky Morales each tallied seven tackles, while Chapa and Sione Tuha both recorded interceptions. The Bears held UC Davis to just three second-half points and forced two turnovers on the day.
