Rabess Takes Third Overall, Leads Bears in MPSF Open Water Debut

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Northern Colorado made a strong first impression in its debut at the MPSF Open Water Swimming Championship on Saturday, led by an impressive performance from Kyra Rabess, who placed third overall in the women's 5K.
Rabess clocked a time of 1:03:13 to earn a podium finish out of 77 swimmers and claim the top spot among MPSF competitors, securing an automatic qualification for the USA Swimming Open Water National Championship later this year.
Ellyson Lombardi (1:05:49), Lora Konter (1:05:57), and Hlaa Diab (1:06:03) rounded out a strong showing for the Bears, all finishing inside the top 30 in a deep field that featured athletes from across the country.
The event marked Northern Colorado's first-ever appearance at the MPSF Open Water Championship, providing valuable experience and momentum early in the 2025-26 season.
