COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's cross country turned in a competitive showing at the UCCS Open on Friday, led by junior Logan Gullett, who placed fifth overall with a time of 25:42.08 in the men's 8K race.
Gullett's performance marked another strong outing for the Bears, keeping pace with a deep field that featured several top Division II and regional programs, including Western Colorado, CSU-Pueblo, and Colorado State. His top-five effort helped set the tone for a balanced team performance that saw three Bears finish inside the top 40.
Noah Osmond and Aaron Roll crossed the line side by side in 38th and 39th, clocking in at 27:31.65 and 27:31.91, respectively, while Hunter Kenney followed closely behind in 52nd at 28:18.64. Hayden Hyman rounded out the scoring group for Northern Colorado with a time of 29:22.00, good for 59th overall.
"Overall, the team did really well, and this gives us great momentum heading into Mizzou and the Conference Championship," Assistant Track & Field and Cross Country Coach Maranda Donahue said. "Logan has been a consistent front-runner for us, and Aaron had a huge PR to help close the gap within our top five. The guys continue to find each other and race well as a group, which will pay off come Big Sky. Their confidence is growing every week, and we're in a great spot to shake things up this year."
