GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado continues its season-opening homestand against South Dakota State at Jackson Stadium Monday.

Monday's match kicks off a week with three tilts for the Bears. UNC closes its opening week with a clash against Colorado State Thursday at 7 p.m., before the Bears embark on a three-match road trip. They lift the lid on the road slate Sunday, Aug. 29 at Colorado College at 6 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES: UNC VS. SDSU

The Bears hold a 6W-1L-0D in the all-time series against the Jackrabbits.
UNC won both meetings in Greeley, Colorado.
The teams last met on the pitch, with the Bears dropping a 2-1 result in Brookings, Montana, Sept. 17, 2017.
UNC last hosted SDSU October 15, 2004, a 3-2 victory for the Bears.

LAST TIME OUT

The Bears fell 4-0 against Air Force in the season opener at Jackson Field.
Maddie Smith started in goal, recording six saves, including a pair from point-blank range.
UNC drew Air Force offside seven times while committing one infraction.

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS

SDSU held a 13-12 edge in shots, while Kansas recorded a 6-5 margin in shots on goal.
Each side recorded four saves.
- Stephanie Leckwold started in goal for the Jackrabbits and tallied three saves.
- Emma Knack replaced Leckwold at the half and notched a save.
Laney Murdzek recorded a match-high four shots with two on goal.
- Lauren Eckerle, Avery Murdzek and Mia Bosch accounted for two attempts each.
Hayley Lindaman played a team-high 89 minutes, followed by Katherine Jones (87) and Kaycee Manding (80).
Freshmen Leckwold, Bosch and Hailee Christensen appeared in their first collegiate tilt.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

Of the 22 Bears to log action in the season opener, 11 were sophomores or freshmen.
The Bears utilized six sophomores, while five freshmen made their collegiate debut.
Sophomores Lexi Tuite and Anneliese Wong accounted for the offense against Air Force.
Sunnie Yarnell cracked the starting lineup.
Yarnell, Samantha Carter, Lauryn Maggio, Ava Marshall and Preslie Young appeared in their first collegiate fixture.

TOOTING HER HORN

Lexi Tuite returns for her sophomore season after leading the Bears in goals, points, shot attempts and shots on goal.
Tuite notched the first hat trick during UNC's NCAA Division I era, which began in 2006.
She tallied six goals and 13 points in her rookie campaign.
Tuite registered the first goal of her collegiate career at Air Force Aug. 27, 2023.
