GREELEY, Colo. – Amailee Morales garnered MyGreeley.Com UNC Student-Athlete of the Week, after her heroics in the Big Sky Conference Championship game.
With two outs and bases loaded in the top of the 10th inning, the Surprise, Arizona native broke a 5-5 tie with one swing of the bat powering Northern Colorado to back-to-back conference championships.
The Bears earned an NCAA Tournament bid in the Stillwater Regional after sweeping the regular season and tournament this season.
Morales hit .364 (4-for-11) over the four games in the Big Sky Championship, with one double and two home runs, recording a 1.000 slugging percentage. She recorded a .588 on-base percentage with six walks and a 1.588 OPS, driving in nine runs and scoring two more. Morales blasted her 12th home run in the fourth inning, putting the Bears in front for the first time in the championship game.
UNC takes on No. 5 Oklahoma State at 3:30 p.m. MT Friday.
