Messingham Earns BSC All-Tournament Team Honors

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Gage Messingham earned Big Sky Conference All-Tournament Team Honors with a fourth-place finish at the Big Sky Championship Wednesday on the Wigwam Golf Course (Par 72/7,051-yards) Thursday.
Messingham inked a 3-under-par 72-70-71—213, over the three-day tournament. He lowered his season scoring average to 72.03, completing his rookie campaign with the sixth-lowest single-season average in program history.
The reigning Big Sky Conference Player of the Year accrued 13 birdies and 33 pars over the 54-holes. He posted an even-par 72, with four birdies in Tuesday's opening round. Messingham dropped in four birdies on his way to a 2-under-par 70 Wednesday, before carding five red numbers in the final round. His final nine holes proved to be his lowest of the tournament, inking three birdies over the last six holes.
Pietro Boeris and TJ Shehee fired matching 4-over-par scores of 220, completing the event in a three-way tie for 11th.
Boeris fired a 73-72-75—220, with three birdies over the first 18 holes. He needed one fewer stroke Wednesday, tallying four birdies and added three red numbers Thursday. He completed the season with a 72.76 stroke average, 10th-lowest in school history.
Back-to-back 75s put Shehee in 16th place after 36 holes but he rebounded with the lowest round Thursday. On a day when 75% of the field inked par or higher in the final round, Shehee went two-strokes under-par with four birdies, half of his total for the week. He carded three Tuesday and tallied one Wednesday. He averaged 73.72 strokes per round this season.
Peter Grossenbacher tallied a 75-73-77—225. He netted three birdies Tuesday and added his tournament high six Wednesday. In the final round, Grossenbacher dropped in an eagle-putt and wrote down a three on the 575-yard, par-5 fourth hole. He birdied the 12th and 16th holes. On the season, Grossenbacher averaged 75.41 swings per round.
Danni Blake rounded out the scoring for the Bears with one birdie Thursday, en route to a four-over 76.
