Bears Clinch No. 5 seed in Big Sky Tournament

GREELEY, Colo. – Three Northern Colorado student-athletes scored in double-digits but could not overcome a slow start to the second half and dropped a 67-61 decision Monday evening in the regular-season finale from the Bank of Colorado Arena.

Senior Hannah Simental scored a team-high 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and handed out six assists.

Sophomore Seneca Hackley added 10 points and sophomore Aniah Hall came off the bench and scored 10 points.

Senior Delaynie Byrne added nine points and grabbed seven boards.

Freshman Tatum West and sophomore Gabi Fields each scored eight points.

Inside the box score

For the game, UNC shot 45.5 percent (25-for-55) from the field.
The Bears shot the ball well in the first half and converted 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from the field in the second quarter.
The momentum turned in the third quarter and NAU outscored UNC 26-12.
UNC shot 33.3 percent (5-for-15) in the third quarter, while NAU connected on 57.9 percent (11-for-19) of their attempts.
The Bears found success in front of the basket recorded 35 rebounds and scored 30 points in the paint

Series notes

UNC closes the regular season with a 15-14 overall record and a 10-8 mark in conference play.
NAU improves to 23-8 overall and 15-3 in league play.
Despite the setback, UNC still leads the all-time series 20-14.
