GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado battled Iowa State in a Saturday doubleheader and fell by scores of 14-1 and 8-6 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Colorado Classic.
In game two of the twin bill, the Bears opened a 4-0 first-inning lead.
Amailee Morales lifted a 3-run home run to right field and Alison Steinker drew a bases-loaded walk.
UNC scored another run in the fifth inning when Sabrina Javorsky singled up the middle to push across a run.
The Cyclones countered with a four-run fourth inning and a run in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead.
Morales tied the game at 6-6 in the sixth frame, with a solo home run to center field to tie it at 6-6.
ISU scored two runs in the seventh inning and closed the game.

In game two, ISU defeated UNC 14-1 in five innings.
Ella Gonzales hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
