GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado returns to action with a pair of Big Sky Conference road games at Sacramento State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Portland State on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast on the ESPN + platform.

UNC and Sacramento State

This is the 33^rd time UNC and SSU will meet, and the Bears lead the all-time series 20-12. Over the past 10 games UNC is 6-4 in the series, however, SSU has won four in a row. The Bears are 11-4 all-time in Greeley and 7-8 all-time in Sacramento. UNC's largest margin of victory was a 91-59 win in 2011.

Last time out vs. Sacramento State (2/11/23)

SSU defeated UNC 79-48. Delaynie Byrne scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Aniah Hall added 10 points and, Hannah Simental helped with seven points. The Bears shot 33.3 percent (15-for-45) from the field.

UNC and Portland State

This is the 32^nd time UNC and PSU will meet on the hardwood, and the Bears lead the all-time series 22-9. Over the past 10 games, UNC is 8-2, but dropped the last decision. The Bears are 13-1 all-time in Greeley and 9-8 all-time in Portland. The Bears' largest margin of victory was a dominant 93-45 decision in 2022.

Last time out vs. Portland State (2-9-23)

PSU defeated UNC 56-52. Delaynie Byrne scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Aniah Hall came off the bench and scored 15 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field. Hall also added seven rebounds.

Big Sky Standings

With a 2-1 Big Sky Conference record, UNC is currently in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings. The Bears are tied with Northern Arizona and Idaho.

Balanced Basketball

Northern Colorado ranks fourth in the Big Sky in offense with 68.7 points per game and fifth in the league points allowed with an average of 63.6 points per game. That reflects a margin of + 5.1, which is fourth in the conference.

From Beyond the Arc

Simental averages 15.7 points per game, which is third in the conference, and Byrne is averaging 15.1 points per game, which is fourth in the league.

High Percentage

As a team, UNC is shooting 43.3 percent (341-for-788) from the field, which ranks third in the conference. Byrne is converting 48 percent (72-for-150) of her shot attempts, which ranks fourth in the conference. Simental is connecting on 46.2 percent (73-for-158) of her shot attempts, which is fifth in the league.

Simental Earns Big Sky Conference Player of the Week

In Big Sky – Summit League challenge games versus Oral Roberts and Denver, Simental averaged 25 points per game, shooting 50 percent from the field and 7-for-16 from the three-point arc. The senior also logged five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Simental hit the game-winning three-pointer to send the Bears past Denver with two seconds remaining.
