Bears Suffer Setback at Long Beach State

Long Beach, Calif. – University of Northern Colorado closed out their non-conference slate with a 5-1 setback against Long Beach State at George Allen Field.
Long Beach State started fast registering two shots, including one shot on goal in the first 10 minutes of the match. UNC got on the board when Alex Michael found the net in the 15th minute. LBSU answered with a goal in the 33rd minute to even the score, 1-1. LBSU extended their lead by one off a penalty kick in the 40th minute. Kaya Lindberg recorded six saves in the first half. The teams went into halftime with LBSU leading 2-1.
In the second half, the Bears started aggressively with a shot from Rachel Mortensen early in the period. Sydney Engelkins chipped in and recorded two shots in the second period. The Beach found the net in the 57th minute to push the lead to two. LBSU found the net twice in the last 20 minutes to extend the lead by four.
