LAWRENCE, Kan. – Despite unfavorable weather, sophomore Regina Mpigachai took first place and set a new school record in the 5000-meter run on Saturday at the Rock Chalk Classic.
"The wind was terrible in some regards, a little too much to overcome, but we still managed to accomplish a lot today," director of track and field Wayne Angel said. "I am very proud of everyone that competed today, despite the weather conditions that they had to fight through, they gave it their all and we were able to achieve many personal bests along the way." Kudos to Regina for fighting the wind enroute to a new school record in the 5000m run, it was a gutsy race. I am so proud of her accomplishment today."
